The levels are made with a bit more care and imagination than usual, the new powers were fun as heck, the challenge modes were a good way to sneak in replay value without bogging down the campaign, and I liked the the best out of any NSMB since the first one. NSMBU is my favorite one of the NSMB games full-stop to me it was the pinnacle of everything the series wanted to be. They even did the same gimmick for NSMBU: There is one "super play" video in the game where they play four players co-op but Luigi player doesn't do anything and gets carried through entire level by 3 others. Seeing people who playtest Mario games for a living clowning all over these brutally hard level was very entertaining. NSMBwii super play videos were also amazing. ![]() 3d Land final boss kinda does the same with more nostalgia for SMB1.īut when you try to tell people that - they just pull up their on nostalgia goggles for SMW and SMB3. Fantastic and imaginative final boss too - the best one in the series. And no - single player aspect does not suffer. In one of the Iwata Asks they said that according to their research 9/10 people who bought NSMBWii never got to 2nd world.Īnd yeah the level design in those games is really an unsung masterclass because it is designed for with dual purpose in mind at the same time - for single player and co-op at the same time, both brilliantly. ![]() Game isn't bad, but I think they went a little overboard with the difficulty in some levels. on the Wii, a console that's often regarded as "the Nintendo console for casuals". And I'm honestly surprised, because this is Super Mario Bros. U, and I'm just amazed at how much harder this game is. Now I did actually beat New Super Mario Bros. You have to know when to jump, how to jump, when to twirl jump, when to time your jumps. I don't want to admit how much time I spent getting all Star Coins there. I'm at world 9 right now, world 9-7 to be specific. Some of these levels are no joke, and if you wanna get all the Star Coins, boy you best be a hardcore Mario fanatic, because this game doesn't fuck around. This game is pretty insane when it comes to difficulty. I've owned it for ages, but for some reason I never really got far. I decided to go through this game and try to 100% it.
